# Overview

> Collect people who want to hear about your updates.

Subscribers are the email addresses that receive your release notifications. They arrive from several places:

| Source | How they got there |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Page** | Subscribed from your public page. |
| **Dashboard** | Added manually by your team. |
| **Import** | Brought in from a CSV file. See [Importing subscribers](/guides/subscribers/import). |
| **API** | Created programmatically via the [Subscribers API](/developers/api-reference/introduction). |

## Let visitors subscribe

Go to **Settings → Page → Subscribers** and enable **Subscribers**: *"Let your visitors subscribe to receive updates via email."*

Two related settings:

* **Default subscriber list** sets which [list](/guides/subscribers/lists) new public subscribers are added to.
* **Anonymous subscribers** allows subscribing without creating an account.

## Managing subscribers

Find them under **Audience → Subscribers**. You can search, add subscribers manually, move them between lists, and remove them.

## What subscribers receive

Subscribers can be notified when a release is published and when a milestone is added. Notifications are opt-in per release. You choose in the [publish dialog](/guides/releases/publishing) whether to send email and to which lists.

## Subscriber limits

The Free plan includes up to 1,000 subscribers. Team, Business, and Enterprise are unlimited.

If you go over the limit, usually after a downgrade, you keep every subscriber you already have, but you can't add new ones until you upgrade or remove some.

## Unsubscribes

Every notification email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribed addresses stop receiving mail immediately and are retained so they aren't accidentally re-added by a later import.
